I am an artist, realism in oils on canvas. I have retired as a software engineer, mostly embedded devices. I've ben playing chess since I was 5, inspired by someone saying "you're too young."

My best game was against Joel Benjamin in a simul in 1986. I made an inspired rook move and got a draw, almost a win. It was a QGD, and I was the last man standing (all 28 of us were male, it was 1986). My favorite opening is the Marshall gambit of the Ruy Lopez, hands down, albeit a pawn down.
